Disney's Hollywood Studios

Da Guy loves THE Studios, no matter what it's called. It was previously named Disney-MGM Studios, but renamed early in 2008. The Tower of Terror is the one -- can you tell by that picture over there? Great live shows. Fantasmic! Check it out.

Da Guy's Personal Don't Miss Attraction List

He's not just a roller-coaster kinda guy, but as you'll see loves the big spectacles. No one does them like Disney!

  1. Twilight Zone Tower of Terror-- perhaps Da Guy's favorite attraction if he could only pick one
  2. Fantasmic!Fantasmic! -- take what started at Disneyland and expand it into a permanent attraction seating more than 6,000 people. It's worth the 2 hour wait to get that certain location once each night
  3. Lights, Motors-- The Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show comes from Paris, and what a production! Check the schedule for limited show times each day.
  4. Muppet Vision 3-D -- Jim Henson's last collaboration with Disney
  5. Voyage of the Little Mermaid -- it was there the day the Studios opened, and is just a fresh and wonderful today for kids of all ages. Don't sit too close to the front -- this is one that 3/4 back is far superior if you can do it.
  6. The Great Movie Ride -- a little dated with almost no changes since opening day, but still a lot of fun especially if you need some cool-time inside or to get out of the rain. Check out the Wicked Witch of the East -- best spot is right side of first 2 cars if you can!
  7. Walt Disney: One Man's Dream -- great history, Imagineer stuff, and movie tribute at the end

...not on Da Guy's normal hit parade, but may be when he's playing tour guide with friends

  • Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular -- everyone loves it the first few times; Da Guy has just seen it a zillion times since it's original opening with the park
  • Rock 'n Roller Coaster Starring AeroSmith -- it's fast, dark, and the first loop-de-loop roller coaster by Disney
  • Star Tours -- another classic, based on the original Star Wars IV (how many years ago was that?) Don't do it if you are prone to motion sickness!

Check Out the Lights, Cameras, and Action!

Favorite places to eat in the Park

Gotta have food and snacks while you check out the action. Here's Da Guy's favorites as you travel counter-clockwise around the Park.

Echo Lake Area

  • 50's Prime Time Cafe $$ -- "Mom" will chew you out if you don't mind your manners. Great comfort food. Try that meat loaf!
  • Dinosaur Gertie's Ice Cream of Extinction $ -- your ice cream fix place

Indiana Jones Exit & Star Tours Area

  • Backlot Express $ -- when you need that burger and shake from a counter location

Commissary Lane

  • Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant $$ -- Super fun. Sandwiches and shakes of all sorts while you sit in your convertible watching old B movie horror clips.

Muppets 3-D Area

  • Toy Story Pizza Planet Arcade $ -- it has just what it says. You'll see.
  • Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano $$ -- great Italian

Sunset Boulevard

  • The Hollywood Brown Derby $$$ -- the best food in the Park with a look just like old Hollywood, and yes they have an original Cobb Salad.
  • Rosie's All-American Cafe $ -- another burger place if you're waiting for that time on your Fast Pass before the Tower of Terror. (I wouldn't recommend eating before the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.)
