The Gear Seriously, is there anything but an iPod? Da Guy doesn't think so, as he carries around 99% of his music collection with him on-da-road and in-da-air. His iPad and iPhone have great sound, but Da Guy still likes having a specialized iPod for his compact on-the-go sound and even portable video needs. Check out these useful sites for iPod lovers.
So, you have an IPod or other (why would you?) portable music player. Now you need to get that sound into your ears without bugging everyone else. Without getting overly-personal, let's just say there is something about the formation of Da Guy's ears -- as almost none of those free-bee "ear buds" that come with any music player will stay plugged into his head. It's a very annoying problem. So, Da Guy uses two different solutions depending on the situation:

The drone on every airplane keeps up your stress level, especially on those regional commuters. While it takes a lot more space in your precious carry-on bag, will muss your hair with it's over-the-head loop as compared to the ER-4S's above, and make your ears feel like they've been in a sauna after several hours of use, the Da Guy absolutely believes in protecting copyrights and intellectual property that people and artists spend so much time and effort creating. There are no excuses for not buying your own copies of music, videos and the like for your own personal use. IF however, you want to backup and move your own personal DVD movies onto your iPod for example, you're going to need some utilities beyond what Apple provides to do it ...and note that applications like Nero simply won't touch the vast majority of your precious DVD collection.
