Da Guy is one of those (relatively rare) native Southern Californian’s. Bert’s Place has moved a lot over the years — California, Hawaii, back to California, a return to Paradise where he knew he was supposed to be even before he left, then on to Arizona when the constant flying across the big blue Pacific nearly every week got to be a bit much, next off to Georgia and the land of peaches — within driving distance of Da Mouse down Orlando-way — and finally back to beautiful San Diego where he’ll likely remain for the duration.
After more than 34 years in the Information Technology, Consulting and Services business, Da Guy is today happily retired, enjoying the good life.
Social Networking & Forums
Social Networking
Da Guy just has not gotten into it – at least yet. This site tends to be the way he’s communicated out into the electronic world for years. Maintaining it’s content and the site itself has become a hobby serving what remains of his geekie past.
Some friends invite him to join them in the bold new world of social networking. While he appreciates the thoughtfulness, it’s just not where he tends to hang out these days. He’s also a bit concerned about the evolving privacy concerns on some of those other places, even if there are millions of other users out there before him. There are just too many sites, so much to do, and too little time. That will likely change one day, as priorities always do, but until then, he generally accepts invitations but does not visit or take part much more than responding to personally directed interactions. Perhaps it is his age, but he’s definitely not addicted to texting or tweeting and informing others of his minute-by-minute whereabouts or actions as some seem to be. More static methods, such as this site under his control, are his present cup of tea.
If you’d still like to give a go on social networking with Da Guy, these are the best places to start:
Facebook — Da Guy is “Bert Leithold” over there
Google+ — He’s “113879706584473236855″ over there, but inside Google+ try a search on “Bert Leithold” which is a whole lot easier to remember
…and if you were wonderin’ he has no Tweetie account

Club Lexus – Da Guy has been known as “BertL” here since 2001
Digg — Da Guy used to Digg. Not so much in recent times.
eBay — You’ll occasionally find Da Guy bidding or selling as “Bert-L”
Flickr — One of Da Guy’s favorite places these days, housing most of his public images. “WDW1Fanatic” is what he goes by around this place.
Netflix — Until they raised their rates too high in 2011 for no good reason other than being greedy, this was Da Guy’s preferred method for movie rental and streaming. Da Guy is known as WDW1Fanatic on the Netflix boards. Click here if you’re interested in becoming his Netflix friend and access his ratings of more than 3,400 movies.

Associations
Da Guy started out in the Cub Scouts with mom, dad, and grandma helping out. As a young guy and adult, Bert moved into Boy Scouts. The Order of the Arrow was a key focus for Da Guy during most of that time. He’s honored to have been selected and inducted as a Vigil Honor Member at the same time as his dad — oh, way back, so many years ago. He was given the Indian name of Tschitanitahen — Persevering One.
Boy Scouts of America
Da guy started in Riverside County Council, Mt. Rubidoux District, now a part of California Inland Empire Council. Troop 303 in Riverside was da place to be during those many wonderful years. Southern Sierra Council is where his registration remained until 2003.
Order of the Arrow
Tahquitz Lodge #127 — Where Da Guy ended-up spending all his other time, which by coincidence started his interests in computing and an eventual career in Information Technology that continued throughout his professional career. Tahquitz rock still has it’s place at Camp Emerson up in the mountains of Idyllwild, California. What great times. Today, Tahquitz Lodge is part of Cahuilla Lodge #127. Da guy maintained registration via his dad in Yowlumne Lodge #303 until 2003.
